He tells his experience
Hi Robyn, tell us more about you
My name is Robyn, i’m 21 years old. I live near Rouen in France where I‘m doing my bachelors in a Business school. I have already lived in England for 1 year in the past that’s why I would like to discover a new country, so I thought “why not Spain?” and here I am!
Why did you decide to do an erasmus exchange?
In my school, you have no choice, you have to live an erasmus experience abroad! At the beginning I wanted to go to Madrid, Valencia was my second choice. I didn’t go to Madrid, that’s why I’m here. I already speak English, so it was a good opportunity to improve my spanish. Moreover, Spain is closer to France and it was important for me to keep the possibility to come back sometimes to see friends and family.
To go abroad is not always easy, what do you remember about your flat hunting?
When I arrived, I took an Airbnb during 3 days with three guys I met in France. Then, we found Erasmus Find A Flat girls to help us with accommodation. I spent my first semester in a flat close to the beach and decided to change for a flat closer to the city center at the second semester. There was no problem to change!
How have you known Erasmus Find A Flat ?
Thanks to my friends!!
What were your requirements?
I would like friendly flatmates, to feel good in the flat and with good price. A modern flat, double bed, and at the second semester be closer to city center.
How long did you stay in Valencia and where were you accommodated?
I have lived in Valencia for one year. As I’ve mentioned before, in 2 flats in different areas!
What made you choose a colocation and people from which nationalities were your collocs ?
I lived with Czech, Dutch, French, German and Finnish people! I have already had experiences living in a shared flat before so I knew how it used to work!!
Do you have a good memory to share? A little story?
Rocafull Plaza Xuquer, 14, 46021 Valencia, it’s a pub near the student’s’ area of Blasco Ibañez! Drinks are cheap, there’s a great atmosphere and music is fun!
Can you fill this sentence: “We can’t leave Valencia without …”
Have a lot of parties, come back tanned, go to the beach and visit port saplaya!
How about the benefits of living here ?
Independence: to learn how to manage my budget was a big point! But also speak another language, spanish, discover a new culture, immerse myself in spanish culture and meet a lot of people!
Some advises for the future erasmus students?
Take your Valenbici card as soon as possible, Valencia is a small city with no difference in height! Go cycling is definitely the best way to move in the city!!
